MAIDEN, NC - In a filing with the states Delta Apparel, Inc. is permanently closing it's Maiden textile facility.

This will happen on July 9, and 159 people will be laid off, according to the company.

The company said it is too costly to modernize and continue textile manufacturing at Maiden.

Delta Apparel, Inc. has decided to increase production at the Company's Ceiba Textile Plant in Honduras and may outsource additional fabric in Mexico.

Delta Apparel, Inc. will be filing a NAFTA-TAA petition with the US Dept. of Labor on behalf of the affected employees for potential federal benefits, according to the company.
