I simply can't grow house plants....or little fishies. I will murder them everytime no matter the effort put into them.

Yeah, I'm thinking about "planting' some of them plastic/silk flowers around my house. Guess I'll have to get out and water them every once in a while so peeps will think they're real!

Houseplants are like kids...I get along fine with them as long as they are somewhere else.

No I don't grow Mary Jane. I thought after I posted this that someone would eventually suggest it but no, don't grow the stuff.
Potatoe water is a good idea too! Never tried unflavored gelatin on plants but I did discover once that drinking unflavored gelatin every day plumps up your skin (good for collagen) and I would say would help to ease wrinkles. I need to lay in a good supply of that! LOL!

Potato water works wonders for plants.
I knew a lady who watered her shiny-leafed houseplants with unflavored gelatin. It made the leaves shinier.

| I might even try a Mary Jane if someone will drop one off on my porch. The last one I tried to grow my Husband killed it.

You may be able to revive them with cooled vegetable water and some light of some sort.

House plants sometime suffer being inside all winter so I bought a cheap bucket and put it on my deck to catch rain water or snow. I bring it inside. When I cook vegetables in the vegetable steamer or boil eggs I never pour the water down the drain, too many nutrients going to waste. I call it my vegetable water. I let it cool and add it to the rain water in the bucket. Then I feed this to my house plants and they are LOOKIN GOOD! Will put them out in the sun when it is warm enough.
A few weeks ago I spread some tomato seeds (Brandywine) on moist paper towels. Have had the seeds since 2009. Much to my surprise they sprouted and I have planted some of them in medium sized cans. I spray them with my vegetable water and they are thriving.
