About everyone I know has this problem. Ben Gay on a piece of cloth (renew the Ben Gay periodically) tied into a generous knot at the top wire connector usually will discourage the little pissers.

You can get an Antguard for Hummingbird Feeders at Walmart, you hang it on top of the feeder, or the feeder hangs from it. I used them last year and this year too. Works to keep the ants away. I bought mine at Walmart in Elkin about a month ago, got the last two they had but they should have more in stock now. They were a little over 6 dollars. Or order from http://www.perkypet.com

What you need to do to prevent ants from getting into the hummingbird feeders is to make an ant moat that fits on top of the feeder. The bottom of a empty bleach jug that has a hole punched in the center of it so the hanger loop fits through that is secured to the top of the feeder with epoxy or some other type of durable, water proof glue works well. Once the moat is attached to the feeder, fill the moat with water. The ants will drown in the water trying to get to the feeder.
