lol....yea I think you've mentioned that to me about 3 times. Personally if I was that interested in said question I'd research it. Though I haven't but do recall them used on farms as ratters.....they are terriers and very good at that. Also, they were used on a farm to pull carts and protect their livestock. I'll imagine they were much better farm dogs than you are at being elegant.

Regarding the training of pit bulls on the farm...what conclusions did we come to?

Remembering, guard-dogging and herding are out....

Any insightful responses will be appreciated.

I'm sure pits can be loving and wonderful, but after being attacked by one in my own yard, I can't help being leery of all of them.

Pete on Little Rascals was an American Staffordshire terrier, not a pit bull. The fact that you dont know that, or dont know the difference proves you dont know anything about dogs

First of all, "pit bull" is not a breed, it's a term used to group three breeds, American Pit Bull Terriers (APBT), American Staffordshire Terriers (AmStaff) and Staffordshire Bull Terriers (Staffie). As you can see, all three of the "pit bull" breeds are terriers.
Yes, he was a "pit bull".. Petey (Lucenay's Peter) from the Little Rascals was a UKC registered APBT, Lucenay's Peter. In 1936 he was cross registered with the AKC as a AmStaff.

Also, in response to someone else's answer, the AKC still doesn't recognize dogs called "pit bulls" because that is not a breed. The American Pit Bull Terrier is not recognized by the AKC, but it is recognized by UKC, NKC, ADBA, CKC, APBR, APRI and the ARC. However, many American Pit Bull Terriers are duel registered as American Pit Bull Terriers with the UKC and as American Staffordshire Terriers with the AKC. The American Staffordshire Terrier is recognized by the FCI, AKC, CKC, NKC, NZKC, CKC, APBR, ANKC, APRI and the ACR.

Pitts suck.

Border collies are awesome - they are getting a bad rap on the Internet.

German Rotties are very awesome.

Poodles suck.

Great Danes still suck.

redfly you left out Border Collies, Chows and poodles. Poodles rip the skin. Also, how about a Great Dane?

They are animals and all animals are potentially dangerous.

LOL, Border Collies, LOL,,, they Nip, they dont bite, its in the blood line to NIP Cattle , Sheep, for herding !!!

Sure, a Great Dane will hurt you because of Shear Size, also like a Saint Bernards Size, Pits are bad news because they of their Bloodline, its in their Bloodline to Fight , Mame and Kill.

Freaking raise your dog right and there is not a problem.

Actually, thats not exactly true. Its not wrong, but its not that simple. High risk dogs need masters that have the skills and ability to control their dogs. Most people are fair from capable of being able to do this properly, and are only lucky if their dog doesnt hurt someone.

Everyone should be aware of these dangerous dog breeds.

According to the research conducted by the Animal people in US and Canada, during the period September 1882 to December 31, 2012, Pitbulls and Rottweilers have topped the list by causing more number of dog fatalities and injuries.

Actually, if you understood how the numbers work, when you look at the percentage of dogs own in america that are pits, with the percentage of dog attacks that are committed by pits, you will see that they do attack "much more" often. Unlike Snooky, I can read
