How long were we at war with Afghanistan? 20 years? What makes you think that we would quickly win a war against the much stronger Iran?
There's a long history here, of course, but it really escalated in 2018 when Trump withdrew from JCPOA. Arms control experts warned him that it was a bad move. Then he designated the Iranian army as a terrorist group? He pushed them into this position.
Biden was able to repair relations a little, of course, but that all ended in January.
Brace yourself for another quagmire and financial albatross... with no apparent goal.

Isreal wants us to drop the Mother Of All Bombs (MOAB) on Iran's not so secret underground nuclear facility. So far, Trump has been reluctant to do so
In the meantime, Isreal strikes are aimed at strategic targets such as above ground nuclear sites, oil reserves and military bsses. Iran targets large cities.
Isreal seems much less bloodthirsty hear.
